where clarity dawns and strength emerges

Welcome to Mist Counselling
At the heart of Mist Counselling (My Inner Strength Therapy) is the belief that we all have an inner strength to face life’s challenges. Life can sometimes feel unpredictable and overwhelming, clouding our judgement and leaving us stuck in patterns of thought, behaviour, and emotion that negatively affect our confidence, self-esteem, and mood.
Working together in a supportive and respectful partnership, we’ll explore your feelings and experiences at a rhythm that feels right for you. Together, we’ll explore what’s happening beneath the surface, working to release emotional blocks and open space for meaningful, lasting transformation. This process supports your natural return to balance and well-being.
“Do not judge me by my success, judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again.”
Nelson Mandela
My Story
I often say that counselling found me—because that’s how it feels.
My own experiences led me to seek therapy at a time when I felt alone and unsure of the way forward. Having a safe, non-judgemental space to be heard was a turning point. It helped me face life’s challenges in new ways and encouraged me to approach myself with greater compassion.
That process inspired me to become a counsellor. I now hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and aim to offer the same safe space that once supported me—somewhere others can explore their challenges at their own pace.
Alongside my counselling training, I bring over 20 years’ experience in adoption and neurodiversity. I understand how struggles can be complex and interconnected, sometimes linked with early loss, autism, ADHD, or other life experiences. Often the difficulties we face go deeper than they first appear, and together we can gently explore what those might be.

Why Mist Counselling?
I’ve always had a natural connection with people—offering empathy, warmth, and understanding, especially in moments when life feels overwhelming or isolating. The tree in my logo—photographed in Seville—symbolises strength and resilience. Its deep roots represent stability and support, the foundation we all need in order to grow.
Like the tree, I believe each of us has the capacity to thrive. Yet there are times when life feels cloudy or confusing—when we lose sight of ourselves, feel disconnected, or even ashamed of our thoughts and emotions. That’s the mist: those moments when clarity and self-belief feel out of reach.
Counselling is the process of lifting that mist. Together, we work toward self-understanding—the key to self-compassion. As awareness grows, blame and negativity begin to dissolve. You start to recognise that there is always a reason behind the way we feel or act—often rooted in unspoken or unacknowledged pain, sometimes even trauma we may not yet fully understand.
My Approach
I’m an integrative therapist, which means I adapt my approach to suit your needs. Our relationship is at the heart of the work, and I provide a safe, supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly. Drawing on my training as an Integrative Person-Centred Counsellor, I may use different approaches in ways that feel most helpful to you.

Person Centred
Your sessions will be guided by you. My role is to offer gentle support as you explore your feelings, beliefs, and experiences, helping you build self-awareness and move toward greater balance in your life. Whatever you bring, you’ll be met without judgement. In the safety of our relationship, you can begin to trust your own strengths and develop the confidence to face both current and future challenges.

Psychodynamic
This approach can help you see how past experiences shape your feelings and behaviours today. By gently exploring these patterns, we can get to the root of the problem and open the way for lasting change. Early relationships often shape how we view ourselves and connect with others — understanding this can support healthier relationships, stronger self-esteem, and greater confidence.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) helps you explore the links between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, giving you practical tools to manage challenges and create change. It focuses on easing the symptoms you’re facing right now while building skills you can carry forward. CBT can be especially helpful for difficulties such as panic attack and phobias.

Specialism
I support people through many of life’s challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, loss, relationship difficulties, and family breakdown. Some of the people I work with are also navigating infertility, adoption, or early attachment wounds that continue to affect them in adulthood.
Often, these experiences show up in the way we relate to others — through people-pleasing, struggling with boundaries, or feeling stuck in unhelpful patterns. Together, we can gently explore what’s beneath these challenges and find new ways forward that bring confidence, balance, and lasting change.
Ethics and Commitment
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work within their ethical framework, ensuring I practice with integrity, safety, and professionalism. Your trust is important to me, and I am committed to supporting you every step of the way.
Together, we will work at a pace that feels right for you — fostering insight, emotional freedom, and personal growth. Confidentiality is always respected, and I follow GDPR guidelines to keep your personal information safe.
It would be a privilege to walk alongside you on your journey toward greater self-awareness and fulfilment.
